Design & Technology

At Woolenwick schools, we inspire children to learn to think creatively and solve problems to design products, as individuals and as part of a team. Children develop their natural curiosity alongside extending their understanding and skills base. Educators support children with retaining childhood confidence in their ideas and skills. Children are encouraged to become innovators and risk-takers and, as they grow confident in completing the design cycle, to evaluate and extend their ideas. Design and Technology fosters an entrepreneurial spirit, offering children practical knowledge and skills that can be applied in real life contexts throughout their school life and beyond.

At Woolenwick schools, we aim to ensure that all pupils:

• Develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world
• Build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users
• Critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others understand and apply the principles of nutrition and learn how to cook
