Emotional and Mental Wellbeing

April 2024-

We have been awarded Whole School Approach- Effective Practice in the Emotional and Mental Wellbeing in Schools Mark.

At Woolenwick Junior school we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff.
Positive mental wellbeing is essential if children and young people are to flourish and lead fulfilling lives.
At our school we know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times anyone may need additional emotional support. We Take the view that positive mental health is everybody's business and that we all have a role to play.
Good mental health and wellbeing is just as important as good physical health.
We all have mental health. Mental health is about our feelings, our thoughts, our emotions and our moods.
Sometimes we might experience very big or overwhelming feelings with affect our daily lives and stop us from doing or enjoying things that we would normally do. This is a time we might need some help or support.
At Woolenwick we:
  • have a trained mental health lead
  • trained year 6 peer mentors
  • have PHSE lessons which help develop emotional and mental wellbeing in children
  • have clubs to help build emotional and mental wellbeing
  • have an emotional and mental wellbeing policy
